(KRON) -- As a Republican, former baseball great and candidate for the United States Senate, Steve Garvey faces longshot odds to make it out of California's top-two primary into the general election. In two out of three of California's most recent U.S. Senate elections, no Republican candidate has advanced to the general election.Garvey, a former Major League Baseball All-Star and World Series champion with the Los Angeles Dodgers, is a relatively late entry into the Senate race -- having just announced his candidacy last month. But while the other two leading Republicans in the race -- businessman James Bradley and attorney Eric Early -- are staking out positions in line with the GOP base, Garvey has been decidedly more moderate. On his website, Garvey says he will serve with "commonsense compassion" and "work to build consensus" if elected. In a KQED interview on Oct. 10, Garvey said he supported "very stringent background checks" when it comes to guns, implied that he opposes a na...DC high school students share experiences ‘Through My Anacostia Eyes’

HIALEAH, Fla. (AP) — Former President Donald Trump’s debate counterprogramming tour continued Wednesday in South Florida before a friendly crowd about a half-hour’s drive from where his rivals for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination were engaged in their third debate.Trump’s event was intended to upstage the other candidates, continuing a practice he has pursued now through three GOP debates. He has cited his commanding lead in the polls as the reason he hasn’t been participating directly, but he has looked for ways to draw attention to himself with distinctive, simultaneous events.Wednesday’s rally was an opportunity to showcase support among Latino voters in the Miami suburb of Hialeah, a community with a strong Cuban-American population where Trump remains popular enough that a City Council candidate used his image on campaign signs.Trump also was expected to be joined by Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders, his former White House press secr...Benev Capital: Q3 Earnings Snapshot

I think there’s pluses to it and minuses to it, but we’ll see what we like about this week.”After a fast start to the season defensively in their first season with Wilks as coordinator, the 49ers (5-3) struggled in recent weeks, leading to the decision for Wilks to move down to the field for Sunday’s game at Jacksonville.San Francisco ranked first in points allowed (13.6 per game), second in passer rating allowed (70.9) and third in yards per play allowed (4.43) during a five-game winning streak to open the season. Those numbers took a big drop during the th...Osisko Gold: Q3 Earnings Snapshot
